Elite: A Competitor is Elite who has been a member of the USRowing Senior National Team or any country's Senior National Team as a Competitor (including as a spare) or a medalist at the U23 World Championships in the category at issue.A Competitor who is an Elite as a Sweep Rower shall be advanced to Senior for all Sculling Events, and a Competitor who is an Elite as a Scull Rower shall be advanced to Senior for all Sweep Events.Senior: A Competitor is a Senior who has won any Intermediate or Senior 2,000-meter Event at the USRowing National Championship regatta or at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, and who has not advanced to the status of Elite.Intermediate: A Competitor is an Intermediate who has not advanced to the status of Senior or Elite.Competitors shall be classified according to skill by the following criteria:.A Competitor's classification by skill shall not be determined separately with respect to open Events and lightweight Events, and thus a Competitor's status as Elite, Senior, or Intermediate is applicable regardless of weight class.Except for the provisions of subsection (c)(4) below (Elite status affecting Scull or Sweep status), a Competitor's classification in one category shall not affect his or her classification in the other. A Competitor's classification by skill shall be determined separately with respect to Sweep Events and Sculling Events.Rule 4-104.2 from the USRowing Rules of Rowing A women's lightweight Crew, including a single Scull (1x), shall have no Rower who weighs more than 130 lbs.A men's lightweight Youth Crew, including a single Scull (1x), shall have no Rower that weighs more than 150 lbs.A men's lightweight Crew, including a single Scull (1x), shall have no Rower who weighs more than 160 lbs.A lightweight Crew is one that complies with the requirements below. Masters Crews shall be classified by age according to the following categories:Īn athlete of any weight can enter the open categories, although the average woman in an open race will approach 6' in height and an average open weight man 6'6?.A Masters Crew shall be comprised exclusively of Masters Rowers, but the Coxswain need not be A Competitor thus becomes a Master on January 1 of the year of his or her 21 st birthday. A Competitor's age is determined as of December 31 of the current calendar year, rounded down to the nearest whole number. (d) Master: A Master is a Competitor who has attained, or will attain, the age of 21 during the current calendar year. A Competitor thus ceases to be a Youth after December 31 of the year of his or her 18 th birthday, or of the year in which he or she completes the 12 th grade of secondary school, having been a full-time student, whichever is later. (c) Youth: A Youth is a Competitor who in the current calendar year does not attain the age of 19, or who is and has been continuously enrolled in secondary school as a full-time student seeking a diploma. U15: A Competitor may compete in the U15 category until December 31 of the year of his or her 14 th birthday.U17: A Competitor may compete in the U17 category until December 31 of the year of his or her 16 th birthday.U19: A Competitor may compete in the U19 category until December 31 of the year of his or her 18 th birthday.U21: A Competitor may compete in the U21 category until December 31 of the year of his or her 20 th birthday.U23: A Competitor may compete in the U23 category until December 31 of the year of his or her 22 nd birthday.(b) The following classifications are used to determine a Competitor's eligibility based on age: A Competitor's classification by skill in non-age category events shall be as provided in that rule. (a) A Competitor's eligibility to compete in events classified by age is not affected by his or her classification by skill under Rule 4-104.2 ("Classification by Skill"). These include age, weight and skill and each has rules associated with the classification. When competing in races, athletes race guided for which events they can enter by different classifications.
